OUT/IN

We crawled
on all fours
 out of the cave,
struggled to stretch
upright from stupor
and aim
for the stars....
but only briefly....
before we
turned around
 to stride
back indoors,
to sit,
locked in,
and stooped,
(more stupid now)

at a computer

intaking
the next one,
bury it
deep
in the deepest
reaches
of the deepest
ocean,
and if it works
itself
free,
bobs back
onto
the surface,
you can
then
be certain
that it's
still
determined
to bring
harm
to you
or anyone
still
desiring to be
destroyed
by
dark
cola
bubbles...
